Here at OH! My Garden I tell of the trials and tribulation and the pleasures of gardening in the South, while dealing with sandy soil. The soil is an acid soil we work hard to get it to a more balanced growing level. Certain plants love this acid soil such as azaleas, rhododendrens, camelias and gardenias. I have accumulated a list of perennials, annuals, shrubs and trees that are acid loving plants. My favorite plants are herbs and I am working on an assortment of herbs to get growing in my garden. Since my sandy soil is not the type of soil some herbs need to grow, I have started some raised herb beds to help accomplish my goal of having a large variety of herbs.

Take a plastic drink bottle cut in half, cut several drainage holes on the bottom, add some sand then potting soil mixed with peat moss. Dip your cuttings in a root tone and place them in the soil being sure the end is in the sand. Water and replace the top half, place in a cool lighted area. Replace water as needed. Rootings will be ready to repot when new leaves and growth appear.
